Life is short...
It's really sad when people die...
It can happen at any time...
Insultingly obvious sentences. I'm afraid sometimes I try to make certain experiences less painful by intellectualizing (word?) them or trying to "spin" them so they are more profoud. I need to do a better job of saying how things really are.
Death sucks.
A heavy week around here and I am finally allowing myself to accept how hard it is. A young guy and a little baby both "taken" in one week.
No well-crafted sentences can make those any easier to handle.
It's just sad. Really sad...

Currently playing: "Bedshaped" by Keane.
Slow start to the week--can't seem to wake up today. Feels like those first 30 seconds when you open your eyes, right before the alarm is supposed to go off and you're debating whether you get up and shut it off so you don't have to hear the cursed noise or lay there and pretend it's not going to happen.... That's been today's experience.
Luckily, I've had my normal antidote. Been a day filled with good music. I've spent a lot of today (including now) listening to music online. Have you seen Rainman? Remember the scene in the car with the radio station? The name: 97X! "The future of rock and roll!" That's what I'm listening to. Their website (woxy.com) has a couple different streaming options and the music choices are great! Lots of more indie stuff and a lot of stuff that's suprised me. I highly suggest it!
Currently playing: "Have A Good Sleep" by Hot Hot Heat.
Another musical suggestion for the clamoring boys and girls out there. You need to listen to The Perishers. Now, don't think they are just another mid-tempo brit-pop band, though it would appear they are exactly that when you first listen to the record. But there's something really different about this Swedish band. Some of it might be the whispered and smokey lead singing. Some might be the lush piano, atmospheric guitars supported by the steady and accurate rhythm section. Some of it might be the simple lyrics. Mostly though I'm probably just really attracted to how beautiful the music is. It's not a cure for insomnia if you're driving at 3 in the morning across the country. But if you're wanting something that can suck you in and help you to feel deeply the lyrics, this is a good chill record. I'm loving the songs "Sway" and "Pills" today (sure to change in a few days--it always does...) but the song "Trouble Sleeping" would be familiar to fans of the OC. Song clips available at their website here.
I can't believe "Da Vinci Code" remains at the top of the best sellers list. I mean, it was good and all, but...
Currently playing: "On The Bus Mall" by The Decemberists.
My car passed the 90,000 mile mark this morning. I really need it to last another 90,000--let's hope the little tupperware-mobile can handle it.
A few of my favorite blogs have been pretty vacant these days. So that means you gotta keep writing c@it! No breaks allowed for you....
More later...
